Editing Blog

I was able to start editing the film as all my exams have passed. I made sure the establishing shot faded into the screen. Then, I added the title of the film to the establishing shot. Next, I started putting the actors names on different scenes. Now that the easy part was done I started looking through the variations of edits. I found that a split screen edit would work well since we had a couple scenes where someone was being chased. So, I put a split screen on the staircase scene in order to make the positions of the protagonist and antagonist clear. I also wanted to input some jump cuts to connect scenes that were fast paced. Therefore, the momentum and speed of the film would feel more realistic. There was a scene where I jumped off the building. I ended up in the water in the next scene and I put a dissolving edit there because of the bubbles that were in the water. It fits the actual scene therefore the transition would look cleaner. Also, I added a slide transition for when the car is entering the parking garage near the actors. This allows the viewer to know that the car is in a different section of the garage than one of the opening scenes. I  attempted to lower the volume of the elevator in the elevator scene. I was not able to figure out how to do that and may need to reshoot that scene unless my group mates can figure it out. A couple of the scenes were filmed at a slight angle and it didn’t look good. So, i went into the editor and rotated the frame to make it symmetrical. There is plenty more to edit but I did not have time to finish. So, I will have to find time to edit some more later this week.
