Intro Blog

    My name is Felipe Lopez and my family is from Edmonton. I am from Tampa, Florida, but I moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida 3 years ago. I attend Fort Lauderdale High School as a sophomore. Also I am a student enrolled in AICE Media Studies AS level.  I enjoy playing sports and watching movies. I was always really fascinated by the behind-the-scenes of how movies were made. So, I enrolled into this class so that I can learn more about the filmmaking process. I also am learning how to edit videos in a separate class. I can use those skills for when I need to edit my projects.  Then, I will be able to see what goes on pre-production. This class may open up my perspective on the film-making world causing me to look for jobs that can enhance my knowledge and experience on movies/tv shows. I have a really good work ethic and this class will only make that better. There is going to be a lot of assignments but they are going to be enjoyable and fun because I am going to be learning so much about one of my career interests. I used to enjoy making YouTube videos with my friends, so it will be just as enjoyable doing professional film work in this class. I'm excited for the challenges ahead of me that will test my work ethic and creativity. I may find new career opportunities whether it's story boarder, sound editor, video editor, cinematographer, etc. I am not considered a creative person by many, but I will be forced to bring out the most creative version of myself. Being a very determined person, I will be persistent in making sure I understand the curriculum and making my projects to the best of my ability. Considering my work ethic and admiration of films, I am beyond ecstatic to begin recording. All in all, my interest is so high I believe I will enjoy this class and executing the filmmaking process.

  First Scene The main male and female character will enter the clubhouse room as camera tracks them from the front. In this shot the camera will be eye level. The characters will be picture wearing trendy streetwear. This scene will correspond with the instrumental opening of the song. Genre Re-Adjustment: Project Blog

   Our group realized minor flaws in our film as we continue through this production process. The biggest issue that has come to surface is that our genre isn't represented as well as we thought it was going to be. I did not think this was going to be an issue at the start. In fact, I thought the mystery genre was the perfect fit. As I am watching how the production is unfolding, it seems as if our problem is that we can't necessarily get the feel of a true mystery film in our 2 minute clip. This means, our film's conventions don't completely align with those of a real mystery. I still believe that it can fit the genre, but giving it the title of a mystery-thriller would be more fitting. The camera angles and movements used in our film are those typically used in mystery films. For example, we use extreme close-ups on objects to provide a mysterious feel about them. Our Pitch

A person receives a briefcase and is unaware of its contents, unbeknownst to him he is being followed.          This pitch has great potential because of its ability to harness the unknown and be action packed in a short period of time. The pitch also conforms well to the settings we have available due to our access to the urban setting. Furthermore this pitch doesn't require props inaccessible to the group making it a great candidate. However, this pitch struggles with a lack of dialogue and it will be difficult to facilitate conversation throughout. I believe that despite this the pitch's positive aspects outweigh the negative ones because its exciting and is mysterious. A natural disaster knocks out the power in a city, forcing an evacuation but for one man something goes wrong.     This pitch has potential for success because the story presented has a lot of versatility and can go in many ways.
