Our Pitches

Image
A young teenager attempting to reach the standards of their perfectionist parents, one day they just cant take it anymore, but they regret certain decisions.          This pitch has great potential because of its ability to harness the unknown and be emotionally connecting. The pitch also conforms well to the audience because there are many teenagers dealing with similar situations 24/7. Furthermore this pitch doesn't require props inaccessible to the group making it a great candidate. However, this pitch struggles with the editing aspect and it will be difficult to cut and edit sounds to conform to the types of shots we will be using. I believe that this pitch's positive aspects outweigh the negative ones because its thrilling and emotional. A teenage girl goes about her normal school and social life, unbeknownst to the fact that she has a stalker with nothing but bad intentions.     This pitch has potential for success because the story present...

Completely New Group

I am working with Lily O'Neil , however I am also working with Ben Polsky as well. This engaging project encourages assignees to perform their own tasks, but I find it most beneficial to try this project with hard-working partners like Lily and Ben. This is because introducing new members enhances collaboration and resolves disputes due to the odd number of participants. This introduction also prevents production errors from slipping through cracks and introducing new opinions into our discussions. I also felt that it was necessary to introduce new members to music videos, which usually have a large number of actors and different camera angles. All of this is possible by adding another person. Ben is one of my best friends, but I chose him because he has the qualities that a good project partner should have. He is a very intelligent student with a GPA of 4.0 or above. His work ethic goes through the roof when it comes to schoolwork. He always gets what he needs to ...

Intro Blog

My name is Felipe Lopez and my family is from Edmonton. I am from Tampa, Florida, but I moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida 3 years ago. I attend Fort Lauderdale High School as a sophomore. Also, I am a student enrolled in AICE Media Studies A level.  I enjoy playing sports and watching movies. I was always really fascinated by the behind-the-scenes of how movies were made. So, I enrolled into this class so that I can learn more about the filmmaking process. I also am learning how to edit videos in a separate class. I can use those skills for when I need to edit my project.  Then, I will be able to see what goes on pre-production. This class may open my perspective on the film-making world causing me to look for jobs that can enhance my knowledge and experience on movies/tv shows. I have a really good work ethic and this class will only make that better. There are going to be a lot of assignments, but they are going to be enjoyable and fun because I am going to be learni...

Unaware: Creative Critical Reflection

Unaware: Project Blog

All of our production is finished and the final product is ready. We spent countless hours on this project, it was a lot of work to get all the logistics sorted out. Many of my group members had plans already set before we decided filming and editing dates. So, there was limited time but we persevered and got it all done on a time crunch. I definitely have improved my time management skills through this task. Also, I enhanced my acting skills because I had the help of my groupmate Yousev who used to act. Plus, this time during filming we experimented heavily with new types of shots out of our comfort zone. Everybody in the group grew exponentially because of this project. I am excited that we finally finished the project and that it turned out better than we thought. Unfortunately, there are no more projects this year but maybe in future years or free time I can continue to practice short film projects with my group.

Finished Editing

Image
I continued to edit my film today. There was not as much left to edit as I originally thought. One thing I had to do was edit in the non-diegetic sound we had gotten from YouTube. Both of the sound tracks I chose were hours long with many different tempos within the track. The first thing I did was evaluate which scenes were going to need suspenseful music. Then, I went to the suspenseful track and listened to the whole thing. I did this to decide which portion of the music would fit certain scenes of the film. Once I figured that out I actually cut out the portion of music and saved it as a file. Then, added it on to the scene in the editing software. At first, there were difficulties regarding the audio file size. It said the file was too large, so I reduced the audio quality to make the file slightly smaller. Then it worked just fine and I didn't encounter any more issues like that. Now that I had done what I needed for the suspenseful scenes I had to finish the action scenes....

Changes Made From Film Review

Image
In the film review, I was told that the audio quality was poor in the elevator scene. I attempted to open volume mixers on the editing software. However, there was nothing there and I tried to mute the audio overall and see if it we could add a voice over. That ended up sounding off and it didn't fit the mouth movements in the original scene. So, I went as far as to trying new sound editing software. I could not get anything to work so I am going to have to just leave it as it is. Another issue was that the camera wasn't held steadily in some scenes. I ended up getting the group back to reshoot the scenes that were messed up. The new footage wasn't as good as the original so I decided to let the problem stay as it was only a minor issue anyways. The next issue was that I overused certain edits and it was repetitive. So, I removed a few of the edits that appeared multiple times. Since I wanted the edits to fit the mystery genre, I had to replace the original edits with simi...
